Dear Families,
This
week we will be going over a bit heavier of a lesson with the class. We will be examining exactly what death is and why it happens. We
will talk about why we have funerals and how we remember people we are
presently separated from.
The children will be reviewing Romans 5:12 to look
again at what the ultimate cause of death is, sin. The children will
also learn that there are really two very different kinds of death: spiritual and physical. We want the children to understand the
various stages of life and death for a believer, how our spirits begin
life dead and separated from God but then come to life through Him. We
want the children to understand the hope that we have in Jesus, that
our spirits will not feel death's sting if Christ is in us and that
there is the promise of a future bodily resurrection.
The memory verse for this week is Romans 8:10 "If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness."
We hope that the children find this lesson to be useful and ultimately
hopeful. We will try to be as sensitive as possible while teaching
about this important topic. Thank you for partnering with us to teach
your children about the Gospel.
Teachers,
Nancy and Severn
