4th & 5th Grade September Lessons

Dear Parents,

     Kids Zone is off and running and we are excited to see you and your kids each week and to learn from God's word.

     As much as it depends on you, please make sure your children get a good night sleep on Saturday and a good breakfast on Sunday so they will be able to focus and enjoy the morning.

     Our study this year, for the 4th and 5th graders is "To Be Like Jesus". The first two lessons teach that we are created in God's image for His glory. We want each child to understand that they are created with characteristic and abilities like God's character and abilities and that they are to use these characteristics to bring God glory.

    

     Here are some of your children's ideas:

     Since God is good and perfect, they could bring Him glory by being helpful to a new student, a shy student or a student from another country by showing them around the school, or playing with them at recess.

     Since God is just and righteous, they could bring Him glory by taking turns at school, sharing, and not cheating in games or on they work.

     Keep talking to your children about ways they display the image of God at home, or school to bring God glory.

1st - 3rd Grade September Lessons

Sept. 8, 2012

Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new Sunday school year!  We want to touch base with you and let you know what's in store this year.  Once again, we'll be combining the 1st - 3rd graders in one class and will be meeting in the Growing Place room for the whole time.  (No more switching back and forth between rooms!)

It will be beginning to look a lot like Christmas as we start our lessons this year.  The lessons are a chronological teaching of New Testament stories so that does mean the birth of Jesus comes first!  (If you hear any Christmas carols being sung just remember there is a reason.)  Below are the lesson titles and the Scriptures we'll be using with them.  We hope you will ask your kids what they learned each Sunday and make sure we're doing a good job teaching them.

Sept. 9--God hears Zechariah's prayer and promises him a son.  Luke 1:5-25

Sept. 16--The coming of the Savior is announced.  Luke 1:26-80; Matthew 1:18-25

Sept. 23--Good News of great joy!  Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 2:1-38

Sept. 30--Family Celebration.

We will also have memory verses but will be working on them in class this year.  We realize that most of your children will also be attending Church Time so will be studying THE STORY along with you.  We want you to be able to put more time and attention into those lessons.  Do ask them to recite the memory verse though, as practice, practice, practice puts it in their heads and hearts.  The verses we will be working on this month are Luke 1:18-20.

2's & 3's September Lessons

This is the 2's & 3's Sunday School lessons for September. On September 30th there will not be Sunday School.  We will be having the Fall Family Celebration and there will be child care for the meeting.

     September 2   Lesson 1  God Made the World

God made everything in our wonderful world.  God is so great!  We can thank God for making the world.  The Bible
says, "God made the world and everything in it."

September 9 Lesson 2  God Made Animals

God made everything in our world.  We can thank God for making all the animals!  The Bible says,

"God made the world and everything in it.

September 16   Lesson 3  God Made People

God made Adam and Eve.  God made all the people in the world!  The Bible says, "God made the world and

everything in it."  We can thank God for making us and the people in our families.

September 23   Lesson 4  God Loves Adam & Eve

God loved Adam and Eve, even when they did not obey Him.  God loves us, too!  God loves us, even when we do not obey Him. 

We can see many things in our world that show God's love for us.  The Bible says, "God made the world and everything in it."

September 30  No Sunday School.  Fall Family Celebration Child Care available for meeting.

Unit 3  Loving Others   Bible verse:  Love is patient, love is kind"  1 Corinthians 13:4

August 5   Lesson 10   Jonah & the Big Fish

Jonah did not want to show God's love.  But God sent the big storm and the big fish to help

Jonah learn that God wanted him to show love.  The Bible says, "Love is patient, love is kind."

We can show love by obeying God.  We can show God's love by being kind to others.

Bible verse:  Love is patient, love is kind"  1 Corinthians 13:4

August 12  Lesson 11  Josiah & God's Words

           

We can obey God's word, too.  God's Word teaches us to love others.

Our Bible says, "Love is patient, love is kind."

August 19  Lesson 12  Jeremiah Obeys

Jeremiah loved and obeyed God.  So did Baruch.  We can love and obey God, too.  God's Word helps

us to know how to obey God.  The Bible says, "Love is patient, love is kind."  When we show God's love by being

kind, we are obeying God's Word.

August 26  Lesson 13  Nehemiah Builds a Wall

The Bible says, "Love is patient, love is kind."  It is kind to help others.  Nehemiah and God's people showed

God's love by helping each other rebuild the wall of Jerusalem.  Helping others is something we can all do!

Helping others shows God's love.

 Bible verse:  Love is patient, love is kind"  1 Corinthians 13:4

2's & 3's July lessons

 This is the 2's & 3's lessons for July.  We started the Daniel lessons as listed below on July 1.  On July 15 we have the church campout so there will not be

Sunday School and only one service which is at 10:00 am and there will be the usual Church time 2's & 3's class.  I will be at the campout so I will either see

you there or back at Sunday School on July 22nd.

July 1  Lesson 5  Daniel Obeys God 

Daniel and his friends showed their love for God by doing what was right.  We can show our love for God

by doing what is right, too.  The Bible says, "Love the Lord your God."

July 8 Lesson 6  The Fiery Furnace  Daniel 3

           

Daniel's friends loved God.  They knew that God always loved and cared for them, no matter where they were

or what happened to them.  We can love God, too.  We can know that He will always love and care for us,

no matter where we are or what happens to us.  The Bible says, "Love the Lord your God."

July 15  Lesson 7  The Writing on the Wall Daniel 5      CHURCH CAMPOUT ONLY ONE SERVICE NO SUNDAY SCHOOL

Daniel loved God.  Daniel always obeyed God to show his love for God.  We can show our love for God, too.

The Bible says, "Love the Lord your God"

July 22  Lesson 8  The Lions' Den

The Bible says, "Love the Lord your God."  Daniel loved God and prayed to Him every day.  We can pray to God, too.

We can tell God that we love Him.

July 29  Lesson 9  Ruth Loves Naomi   Ruth 1 & 2

Ruth showed God's love by being kind to Naomi.  She was patient when she picked up the barley.  Picking up the

barley took a long time.  We can be kind to others and be patient, too.  The Bible says, "Love is patient, love is kind.
