FREE | Kids Summer Bible Studies

As we enter into summer, it's easy to get out of good habits (thanks to more flexible schedules) but also to get into good habits (also thanks to more flexible schedules).  During the year, the girls and I participate in a local Bible Study Fellowship class and we thrive under the structure for regular Bible reading and discussion.  Then summer comes and I struggle for how to consistently incorporate God's Word into our daily activities.  Not this summer!! Check out these fabulous FREE resources for kids summer Bible studies...

Family Bible Detectives from Thriving Family

"This summer, decipher clues and crack codes as you solve 21 "Who am I?" mysteries! Use your family's combined sleuthing abilities to identify mystery Bible characters. We've created a Detective's Kit with everything your kids need to do the job, including biblical lessons and activities that will help them learn more about God's Word and the people of the Bible. So get out your magnifying glass, and sign up for a summer of fun!"

Wonderzone.com from Child Evangelism Fellowship

"This unique site allows trained counselors to disciple children in a real-time, interactive environment. As a result, tens of thousands of children a year are counseled in an in depth, ongoing, culturally relevant way."

Truth Chasers Club from Child Evangelism Fellowship

"Would you like your children to learn about God and the Bible but aren't sure how to explain it on a child's level?  The Truth Chasers Club is a free Bible lesson course that comes to your child in the mail.  Lessons are non-denominational, age-appropriate, fun and meaningful.  Your child can earn certificates and awards and will enjoy the encouraging comments our graders write on their lessons."

Our prayer is that all the families of Gateway enjoy a summer filled with God's Word, learning and growing together!

4th & 5th Grade - May 10, 2014

May 10, 2014

Dear Families,

This week we will be going over a bit heavier of a lesson with the class. We will be examining exactly what death is and why it happens. We will talk about why we have funerals and how we remember people we are presently separated from.

The children will be reviewing Romans 5:12 to look again at what the ultimate cause of death is, sin. The children will also learn that there are really two very different kinds of death: spiritual and physical.  We want the children to understand the various stages of life and death for a believer, how our spirits begin life dead and separated from God but then come to life through Him.  We want the children to understand the hope that we have in Jesus, that our spirits will not feel death's sting if Christ is in us and that there is the promise of a future bodily resurrection.

The memory verse for this week is Romans 8:10  "If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness."

We hope that the children find this lesson to be useful and ultimately hopeful.  We will try to be as sensitive as possible while teaching about this important topic.  Thank you for partnering with us to teach your children about the Gospel.

Teachers,
Nancy and Severn
